Achilles rupture

  • In Achilles tendinopathy, the tendon is palpated as thickened, tender, and crepitant with movement in the ankle joint
  • Positive Thompson test in rupture (pressure on the gastrocnemius does not produce plantarflexion in the ankle joint)
  • Reduced strength in active plantarflexion

  • In Achilles rupture absence of plantar flexion in the ankle
