- Mark over the "dimples of Venus", posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS)
- Original test; Place a mark 10 cm up, increases to 15 cm with forward flexion
- Modified test; Place a mark 10 cm up and 5 cm down, increases to 20 cm with forward flexion
- Mobility in the lumbar spine is normal when Schober test > 5 cm
